6 August 2005: Workshop for educators: Caledon Museum and Town Hall
Report-back on the TEPC project
This workshop for 19 participants (educators from schools, museums and local tourism projects) and 6 TEPC representatives, co-facilitated by local teacher and researcher, Connell Balie, aimed to create awareness and promote opportunities for using the transcribed material in local classrooms and museums. The venue was offered in response to a request from the first workshop for an event outside Cape Town. After brief presentations, there was interactive group work on the 60-page pack of educational materials based on Overberg inventories that had been developed for the workshop. Discussion of the way forward focused on the role of educators in developing/adapting and disseminating such materials for use in school and museum education programmes.
