21 May 2005: Introduction to XML: Department of Archaeology, University of Cape Town

Report-back on the TEP project

This interactive course presented by Mr Schalk Liebenberg of Sentrum for 12 participants focused on concepts and implementation of XML and the markup language associated with it, rather than details of how to use XML. There was debate about public access to the transcribed information over the internet and as downloadable files or CDs, and how user needs can be accommodated in future. There was a call for translations and aids to reading and interpreting the transcriptions and suggestions for developing suitable search engines.
